Technische Universität Dresden is one of Germany’s eleven Universities of Excellence and a leading technical university in Europe. Strong in research and first-rate with respect to the range and the quality of the study programs TUD offers, we are closely connected with culture, business and society (DRESDEN-concept), striving to come up with the best possible solutions to the big questions of our time. As a modern comprehensive, multi-discipline university and with 17 faculties, we offer a broad and diverse scientific spectrum that only few other universities in Germany are able to match. At TU Dresden, you can choose from more than 120 degree programs in engineering, sciences, arts and humanities, environmental engineering and sciences, economics and medicine on undergraduate and graduate level. Even though the main teaching language is German, you can choose from 18 English taught Master’s programs or decide to do your PhD in English with us.

As a public university, TU Dresden does not charge any tuition fees.

TU Dresden is Saxony’s largest university with more than 31,500 students of which about 17% are international students. All of them study and work on four different sites with the two main campuses located right in the center of Dresden, the capital of Saxony.

Dresden is considered one of the best cities to live in Germany and is not called the 'Florence on the Elbe' for nothing. The comparatively low rents and cost of living also contribute to this. Dresden is known for its diverse cultural scene. Visits to cabarets, trendy pubs, museums, theaters, opera and concert halls, cinemas, or music festivals are just as much a possibility as activities in the many sports facilities or the surrounding nature of the Elbe landscape, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, and the Erzgebirge/Ore Mountains. Incidentally, Dresden is considered the unofficial capital of student clubs, and the trendy Neustadt district ensures an exciting nightlife. If you want to get out of Dresden, Berlin, Prague, Leipzig, and Wroclaw are easy to reach.
