Interdisciplinary Research & Training
Institut Polytechnique de Paris is developing 4 interdisciplinary centers to bring together state of the art multidisciplinary research and education to provide both new solutions and well-trained engineers to tackle the most acute challenges of today and tomorrow.
Energy4Climate center has the ambition to deliver new ways to navigate the energy transition, relying on 25 partner laboratories and a strong international approach. Energy4Climate is a program designed to train future leaders to master the new energy market.

Institut Polytechique de Paris and HEC, its Business School partner launched in 2020 Hi! PARIS, an interdisciplinary center for research and education dedicated to human-centered AI research and Data Science. The first interdisciplinary center of its kind in Europe, Hi! PARIS has the backing of five founding sponsors: L’Oreal, Capgemini, Kering, Rexel and Total. The center also supports a joint PhD program and is hoping to recruit 150 doctoral students to add to the 300 already involved. The Center will intervene in key applied disciplines such as energy and environment, defense and security, health, retail and luxury industries, telecommunications, nutrition, finance and insurance, and more.

IP Paris will also conduct cutting-edge research projects and will offer training and PhD programs in 2 other interdisciplinary centers dedicated to Biomedical Engineering and to Cybersecurity.

A Wide Range of Masters and PhD Programs
Institut Polytechnique de Paris has developed Master programs in a wide range of fields including traditional scientific disciplines such as physics and biology as well as contemporary fields such as digital or renewable energies. A multidisciplinary approach fosters synergies between different fields by promoting new technologies’ application to traditional engineering fields such as physics or transport.

Institut Polytechnique de Paris offers classic three-year PhD programs as well as five-year integrated Masters and PhD Programs (see “PhD Tracks” focus, below) in a variety of disciplinary fields. Doctoral research relies on 30 laboratories located in one of the top 10 international scientific clusters.

An international Campus close to Paris
Located 20 km away from Paris, the IP Paris international campus offers all the necessary facilities to students and faculty members. Thanks to its privileged geographical situation and its accessibility by public transports, students and faculty can benefit from Paris’ economic and cultural assets.

Master of Science in Engineering (Diplôme d’ingénieur)

Each school at Institut Polytechnique de Paris has its own 3-year engineering program. A highly selective entrance examination is open to international students who have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate studies. It offers a customizable multidisciplinary education offering a broad scientific and technical knowledge in IP Paris’ fields of excellence. The programs allow strong interactions with companies and laboratories and include solid competences in management, law, economics and social sciences.

PhD programs
IP Paris offers a 3-year multidisciplinary PhD program open to the best international students. It enables students to work on cutting-edge research topics among 10 disciplinary fields. Doctoral research rely on 30 high-end laboratories and unique partnerships with renowned industrial R&D departments.

5-year integrated Masters and PhD Programs: “PhD Tracks”
This program is aimed at students having already completed a Bachelor’s degree. The “PhD Track” offers top students a selective and personalized curriculum with training periods at laboratories and opportunity to focus gradually on their thesis subject. A renowned professor oversees each student’s work.

Some Schools at Institut Polytechnique de Paris also offer Bachelor, Master of Science & Technology and Post-Master degrees in English.
